GET ASSISTANCEOur programs and resources provide trauma-responsive, innovative, and specialized care to minority youth ages 8-17 who are struggling with a variety of behavioral and mental health issues.
Kinfolks Helping Hands employs several evidence-based and culturally relevant models to tailor our services to the needs of our residents.
An evidence-based treatment model designed to help children and adolescents overcome the negative effects of trauma. This model is particularly effective for addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems stemming from abuse, including sexual abuse.
A counseling approach that helps individuals resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. This technique is used to address substance abuse issues among our youth.
A widely-used therapy model that focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. This model is utilized to help youth deal with depression, anxiety, and the impacts of online bullying.
An intensive family- and community-based treatment program that addresses the multiple factors contributing to serious antisocial behavior in children and adolescents. MST is particularly relevant for youth referred by probation services.
OUR DIFFERENCE
We understand that cultural beliefs, values, and socioeconomic disparities can impact how mental health and behavioral issues are treated within minority communities and families. That's why cultural integration is the foundation of our program and treatment plans for residents of color.
All staff receives ongoing training in cultural competence to understand and respect the cultural backgrounds and experiences of our residents.
Providing services in both English and Spanish ensure that language barriers do not hinder access to care or communication with families.
We tailor therapeutic interventions to align with cultural beliefs and practices.
